Laundromat Tips

1) SORT YOUR CLOTHES AT HOME.

Sort your white and colored clothes at home. It simplifies starting your loads and also takes up less space. The laundry process is faster if you can load your machine, add your detergent, choose a setting and turn on the machine quickly.

2) CHECK MACHINES BEFORE USING.

Check all machines before using. Previous customers may leave items that can damage your clothing. Gum, screws and toys are among the many things you can find in a washer or dyer. Always check, because the laundromat is not responsible for damage to your items.

3) DO NOT OVERLOAD MACHINES.

Overloading machines will keep your laundry from washing properly. Fill the machine about 2/3 of the way so there is space for your clothes to tumble. This allows the water and detergent to get into all areas of your laundry. Overfilling the machines will not give you the desired result.

4) USE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF DETERGENT.

It’s also important that you only use the right amount of detergent. Remember that front-loading machines don’t take as much detergent as top-loading machines. 20-30 lb. machines use 1/4 cup. 40-60 lb machines use 1/3 cup. 80 lb. machines use 1/2 cup. If you continually use more detergent than is needed, it can damage your clothing.

5) DON’T LEAVE YOUR LAUNDRY ITEMS UNATTENDED.

Never leave your laundry unattended. If anything goes missing or is damaged, the laundromat isn’t responsible. Monitor the washers and dryers while using them. Walking away to use the bathroom is fine, but leaving the laundromat without anyone to watch your items is not recommended. Wait until your clothes are dry to take them back with you.

6) TAKE ALL YOUR LAUNDRY ITEMS BEFORE LEAVING.

Always check your washers, dryers, and folding tables when you are ready to leave. Socks, delicates, and many smaller items are often overlooked and left behind. Before leaving the laundromat, ensure that you have picked up all your items.

7) BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS. 

Playing loud music or videos from your electronic devices as well as talking loudly on your phone is disrespectful to other patrons. Please be mindful of your surroundings.
